With time on my hands before the game of the week started between Alabama and Auburn I ordered a pizza from Dominos. Of all the pizza stores in our neighborhood it was closest to our house on Gladlane Drive. From our house to Dominos I could drive there in under five minutes. I arrived within three minutes of the store closing for the night. I was in and out in two minutes.
The paragraph above is awful. Why?
Did you count the prepositions? Good grief! All the prepositions ruin it.

We could all improve our writing if we would train ourselves to spot every preposition, whack it and rewrite the sentence avoiding their use.
