Then, teaching them more about prayer, he used this story: Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You say to him.

A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat

And suppose he calls out from his bedroom, don’t bother me. The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can’t help you.

But I tell you this, though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.

And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Luke 11:5‭-‬10 NLT

Here’s Jesus teaching His disciples on how to pray using an illustration of a man who set forth in the night to ask for bread from his friend in order to feed his guest.

But as he got to his friend’s house and made his request known, his friend response was that he can’t be of help to him reason being that it was late and the door is locked.

Though this man wasn’t willing to help his friend but because of his persistent and unwilling attitude to give up easily he will get whatever he needs from his friend.

As God’s children, this is the kind of attitude He wants us to have in our walk with Him be it in prayer, praise, work, family life, business academics and relationships.

The attitude of being persistent in the place of prayer, being persistent in seeking for that job, that relationship, that contract, that admission, being persistent in that business, or project.

The attitude of never giving up.

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

There was a judge in a certain city, he said, who neither feared God nor cared about people.

A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.

The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, I don’t fear God or care about people,

but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!

Then the Lord said, Learn a lesson from this unjust judge.

Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? Luke 18:1‭-‬7 NLT

Keep on pressing on and the chances are that you will stumble on what you are looking for, perhaps when you are least expecting it. I have never heard of anyone stumbling on something while sitting down.

Know that there will be times when forces and circumstances will try to shut you down from asking and pressing on, but just like the blind beggar named Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) in Mark 10:46-52 you need to shout and press the more for your voice to be heard for only in so doing will you get what you yearn for.

Keep praying, keep asking, keep pushing and keep pressing on.

What are some of the things that you crave for? More love? A breakthrough? More pay? More intimacy? Better Job? Press for it by simply asking.

And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Luke 11:9‭-‬10 NLT

Many thanks for coming around, until next time..

Keep pressing on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called you.
