What do you think about…

What do you think about mental illness?

This is Mental Illness Awareness Week. We have experienced severe mental illness in our family. I belong to NAMI, the National Alliance for Mental Illness. In fact, I’m an instructor for a NAMI Family-to-Family Education course and a facilitator for a support group for family members of those with a mental illness diagnosis.
I wrote about mental illness today on my For His Glofy blog.
I’d really be interested in your feedback.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday everyone

What’s your social intelligence quotient?…

What’s your social intelligence quotient?

I ran across an ad this week promoting some snake oil psychologist who “speaks with independence,” the ad said, “but uses the internal language so that he has relevance and cut-through.” He claimed to be an Internal Consultant. I wrote about this intelligent individual today, and MY Internal Consultant. See what you think.
Enjoy.

Let’s laugh a little today!…

Let’s laugh a little today!

I love dumb jokes. The dumber they are, the better I like them.
Today, my post on FHG has absolutely no socially or spiritually redeeming qualities. I hope you have fun reading today.

Today, I don’t care about likes or feedback; but I would absolutely love for you to send me the dumbest [clean] joke you know. It has to be really really dumb and clean. One of my readers already sent me one that will be hard to beat, but you’re welcome to submit a dumb joke anyway.

My blogging friend Keith Haney…

My blogging friend Keith Haney came up with a great idea for meeting and getting to know other bloggers better. He calls it Meet and Greet Weekend. You share interesting stuff about yourself that other bloggers might not know. Then you share a link to a post from your blog, and someone else’s. The share the Meet-and-greet link on your own blog, or social media (like I’m doing here).
Thanks, Keith, for a great idea. I’m looking forward to hearing from other bloggers now!

What’s “correct” about “politics”?

You won’t believe how far overboard this PC malarkey has gone. I wrote about it on my blog.
When you visit, would you leave me a comment or a like? I’d love to know what you think.
Enjoy.

How to argue with an atheist

How to argue successfully with an atheist

I have a confession: I visit atheist websites and twitter pages sometimes.

I’m not thinking of switching. I like to see what they’re talking about now and again. It’s strange to me how much they talk about God and say they don’t believe in Him. Here’s one of their recent tweets:

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.”

We could rip this silliness to shreds; but let’s look at his first few words. He asks the question, “Is God willing…?” I guess he’s wondering. He doesn’t seem to question the existence of God, just God’s ability. Can God prevent evil? Or can He not, the tweeter wonders.

He seems to be asking, “Is God willing? Then if He’s willing, is He able?

This discussion could go South before you could say, “Beam me up, Scottie!” The question mixes logic and emotions, knowledge and beliefs, fact and fiction.

My good friend Pete Bocchino over at his website, Legacy of Truth could address this atheist’s questions with the Truth of the Gospel without offending the atheist.

Check it out: http://www.legacyoftruth.org/read.asp?Document=9

The times I’ve tried to have reasoned discussions with atheists always seem to drift into a confusing, convoluted quagmire. I have come to what I believe is a wise decision for me.

How to argue with an atheist?

Don’t!

Make every effort to become a friend. Don’t judge them. If and when you become friends, show them the love of Jesus. Let His love flow over your new friend in your interactions with them.
