I finally took some time this morning to read over the online debate another blogger participated in and shared with me. They were discussing all animals and what the bible says about them. The discussion started on the topic of elephants in circuses.
There is a lot of confusion out there about the bible and what God says about animals.
Genesis 1:26-Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
For one thing, it says “in our own likeness.” Does anyone believe God would abuse animals?
Some synonyms for the word “dominion” are: power, rule, superior. Who says “power”, “ruling”, or “superiority” is a bad thing, a ticket to harm? Why is that assumed? As loving and beautiful as God is, why wouldn’t it be assumed that it meant to care, provide, guide, teach, and protect?
